Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Modern craps evolved from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s believed that Sir William’s knights enjoyed Hazard amid a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French headed down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair.
