Be smart, play cunning, and discover how to play craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps formed from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s soldiers wagered on Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the British, the French relocated south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the losing toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and across the nation. A few acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He created the Don’t Pass line so players can wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he invented the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
